Northland is a college with two campuses in northern Minnesota. They contacted us to refresh their visual brand presence for both the academics and athletics programs. Our approach was to identify current challenges and clearly define areas of opportunity to either evolve the brand or completely redesign it. The Northland marketing team had clearly defined areas of concern with the brand – lack of consistency and a lack of guidance with the absence of a style guide.

Minnesota North College is a newly created college comprised of six campuses in Minnesota. We designed their visual identity and website. Northeastern Higher Education District (NHED) was a collection of five colleges: Hibbing Community College, Itasca Community College, Rainy River Community College, Mesabi Range College, and Vermilion College. NHED and the colleges decided to become one institution under the same name and brand – Minnesota North College.

We conducted a brand discovery phase including focus group sessions, stakeholder interviews, surveys, audits, and ongoing discussions. We heard from faculty, staff, and students that they wanted a brand that reflected the region. With northeastern Minnesota being a destination for the outdoors, adventure, and beautiful scenery, we create a brand that highlights these regional traits.

Minnesota State College Southeast has campuses in Red Wing and Winona. We created their new identity and brand platform. Name recognition and brand awareness were very low for the college. Our objective was to create brand awareness through a transformational rebrand and a messaging campaign to stand out from competitors.

Saint Paul College is located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They serve a variety of types of students with over 11,000 enrolled. They offer 60+ programs and 70+ degrees and certificates. The college partnered with Object to update its brand, and website with a new CMS and front-end experience.

Inver Hills Community College was initially looking to redesign its website. Through initial stakeholder meetings and focus group sessions with students and faculty, we discovered there was a larger brand problem that needed to be addressed. We completely transformed their brand in tandem with updating the website. The new brand included a new monogram, colors, fonts, illustrations, and holistic design language.
